Last summer, many of our TBLL players stuck around to represent our league on All-Star teams.  If they won a tournament, they advanced to the next round, competing through the following progression:

FL District 6 Tournament (allstar teams from our 12 local leagues)

FL Section 7 Tournament (the best allstar teams from 60 leagues)

FL State Tournament (best of 270 leagues)

*USA Southeast Regionals (best of ~1000 leagues)

*World Series (best of ~15,000 leagues)

*Majors and Juniors divisions only

Our players had Record-Breaking success in 2009 All-Star play, earning NINE championship titles.

Softball All-Star Champions

Our South Tampa Juniors began their post-season in July with a district loss to West Tampa but ultimately ended up Kirkland Washington in mid-August, playing as Team Florida in the Little League World Series.  In world-series pool-play, they  posted impressive victories over teams from Canada, Washington and Texas,  losing only to Puerto Rico.  Their 3-and-1 qualifying record was good enough to earn a spot in the semi-finals.  In their semi-final match-up, the girls played well but could not hold off the undefeated team from Ohio, who finally broke open the scoreless game in the sixth inning.  The loss put Team Florida in the consolation game against Asia, which they won easily, earning bronze medals.  Third in world -- not too shabby!  Congratulations to our ladies for bringing home the following titles:

Our South Tampa Majors secured a spot in the State tournament after first winning the District 6 and Section 7 titles.  At State, they dominated in their qualifying games against Windemere 5-2 and Mims 12-2 and then retired Bloomingdale in a 7-0 semi-final victory.  Unfortunately, they fell 3-1 in the rematch with Windemere in the championship game.  Windemere scored all of its runs in the first inning and held on with good defensive play.  South Tampa couldn't answer with their normally dependable bats.  With an overall 8 and 1 record, the stinging loss in the state finals was the only time our girls had even trailed in a game in the District, Sectional or State tournaments.  Congratulations to our 'Majors' Softball

Our South Tampa 10-11s hit the ground running with a hard-fought victory over their friends on the West Tampa/Bayshore team, eventually grabbing the District 6 title without a loss.  Compared to Districts, their sweep at Section 7 was a breeze.  At State, they easily won their qualifying matchups against Mount Dora 12-0 and Tri-County 9-4.  Then, in a long, hot semi-final game, they were edged out 5-4 by Windemere, winding up with a third-place finish.  Altogether, they posted 8 consecutive victories before their untimely exit and outscored all District, Sectional, and State opponents by a combined margin of 104 to 26.  Congratulations to our '10-11' Softball

Baseball All-Star Champions

Our TBLL Majors baseball team lost their first post-season game to Keystone 4-0.  However, they stayed focused, eventually pulling out a stunning 11-1 victory in the finals over their long-time rivals, Bayshore, to win the District 6 Tournament!  In the Section 7 Tournament, the guys started out with an 8-2 loss to eventual champ West Pasco.  They rallied the next day with an exciting 8-6 victory against Seminole.  Unfortunately, they were on the wrong end of a 15-10 shoot-out with Crystal River in the final game of sectional pool play.  Congratulations to our Majors Baseball
